Indiana State Flower History:

From 1931 to 1957 the Zinnia was the state flower of Indiana . In 1957, the Indiana General Assembly adopted the Peony (Paeonia) as the Indiana state flower. Blooming in late May and early June, the Peony has various shades of pink and red, as well as white. It occurs in single and double forms. No particular variety or color has been designated by the Assembly. The flower is cultivated throughout the state and is extremely popular during Memorial Day for decorating gravesites.
