Q & A: Help With Hospital/Get Well Flowers
Q: Someone I know is in the hospital and I want to send them flowers. What do I do?
A: The most important thing to know when sending flowers to someone in the hospital is their location. It sounds easy enough but can be difficult with large hospitals or cities with multiple hospitals. Before contacting the florist, it is preferred that you have ready the name of the hospital, the patient's name, the room number (if applicable), and information regarding the patient's status. It is important to know the patient's status because many hospitals have different policies for different areas of the hospital. For instance, hospitals will often not allow flowers to be delivered when a patient is in the Intensive Care Unit because of possible health risks. The local florist in the area will be able to assist you if you problems arise.
Q: If I don't want to send flowers to the recipient, what are my alternatives?
A: Many people decide to send gifts other than flowers to patients in the hospital. The local florists are well aware of this and often times have great suggestions. For certain occasions, balloons and gift baskets are appropriate. Often times, recipients prefer to receive green or blooming plants. Plants are a nice alternative and are a very popular choice when sending gifts to the hospital.
Q: I'm not sure when the patient will be discharged, but I still want flowers to be sent. Help?
A: This is a common problem when sending flowers to hospitals. However, it can usually be avoided simply by keeping in contact with the hospital. If the local florist attempts to deliver the flowers and find that the patient has been discharged, the situation can be easily solved. Many florists will contact you and simply request a home address to deliver to. No a problem and the recipient receives their flowers.
