Connecticut State Flower
Mountain laurel
Kalmia latifolia
Connecticut State Flower History:
In 1907, the General Assembly of Connecticut adopted one of the most beautiful Native American shrubs as its state flower. This flower, the Mountain Laurel, captures the imagination of all who see it with its exquisite fragrance, rich white and pink blossoms, and its vivid contrast against the darker colors of the native forests and fields where it is located. The Mountain Laurel has been an attraction to travelers since the early European colonizers.
